Advancing the understanding and utilization of technology in Sonoma Valley.
Hi everyone,
So, where's Christine gone, some of you have asked (and... thank you! it's good to be missed), so I thought I would send a personal update. When I founded WiredSonoma with Chip almost 3 years ago, we had a vision for what it might become, and much of that has happened- many good connections have been made, businesses have been started, and a lot of excellent information has been shared- plus all kinds of events from lectures and debates and classes to book signings have been held. Moreover, it's just developed into a really lovely community.
2011 has had a few challenges for Chip and I, both health and business, and things slowed down with WiredSonoma. I am very glad to see that Chip has re-initiated the monthly meetings and to see the site being used for good.
So, where am I? Not hanging out at EDK every morning, obviously.
In May, our family moved north to Santa Rosa, to Rincon Ridge in the Fountaingrove neighborhood, where our high schoolers are 5 minutes from school. In August, Chip took over the company we founded together, Socialogue (which I use often and absolutely love as asocial media management application). I'm still organizing ideation events in San Francisco (TEDxSanFrancisco and LoveSpring), and am on the organizing committee for TEDxSonomaCounty. I've been growing our web media business (SweetMedia), which now has 11 of our own sites (such as Santa Rosa Yoga and GoGreen) in the portfolio, as well as 21 low to medium traffic affiliate sites, and we are marketing sponsorships on behalf of all of them (contact me if you have a site in the wellness area and want to know more). And FINALLY, the manuscripts for The Love Manifesto and Industrial Strength Love are with editors.
WiredSonoma Meeting Ideas I have been learning a ton about new curation tools, which are the next wave of content generation and journalism apps, which I'd like to share with the group as a topic. I am also figuring out how to make content sites pay now- not an easy formula. Those are some of the topics I'm, interested in exploring, as a meeting leader or discussion participant. Do these interest you? Chip has started a thread on the site to solicit other ideas, so please add your thoughts.
We're dealing with some big health things in our family, so it's not likely that I'll be back for every meeting, but I do hope to see you all soon, and wish you all abundance and prosperity and joy.
Send me your news! I would love to stay in touch, even though we're not running into each other on the plaza.
Best,
Christine
