Wired Sonoma

Advancing the understanding and utilization of technology in Sonoma Valley.

It was great to see all of you who attended our online marketing 101 discussion this week- focusing on social networks. Thanks for making the time. I'm attaching the powerpoint, without narration, so if you have any comments or questions, please let me know.

Here are a few additional notes and comments:

What is the Social Web REALLY good for, anyway?
Any task where distributed collaboration can accelerate or enhance getting stuff done--
Genealogy, for example: www.geni.com

Anything that involves staying in touch with large groups of people--
www.facebook.com, www.classmates.com

Anything that involves getting a better understanding of people's knowledge, sentiments and opinions
For example, market research, expert discovery, product development, customer service- questions or groups on www.linkedin.com, for example

Anytime you need to galvanize a distributed group around a project, mission or activity
Look at some of the ning based groups, for example- this stuff would have been impossible without the Social web- stopworkimpact.ning.com, www.wiredsonoma.com

Other good reasons:
When you want to see the surprising connections between people.
When you want to stalk your old flame- just kidding, trying to see if you were really reading this.
When you want to find your true fans.
When you want to spread compelling ideas quickly.

Let me know your thoughts on these ideas.

Talk with you soon,

Christine
