Monthly meeting at Community Cafe

February 7, 2012 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Additionally, many small manufacturers and developers are facing the challenges of on-shore vs. off-shore. Should be an interesting discussion and chance to reconnect with your local community. Also recommend listening to: Mr. Daisey…See More

About Me
After graduating in Biology from USC, I became interested in computers and software, and subsequently spent 15 years in real time C/Unix sofware development. But I'd always loved writing, and gradually transitioned into the journalistic realm. I've since covered the world of Internet technology for such print publications as Wired, Rolling Stone, Playboy, the San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles magazine, and SF Weekly. Online, I've explored the world of Java technology for sun.com, java.sun.com, and the JavaOne Today publication. Article links available at:

During the dot-com boom of the late 90s, I also worked as a script writer on "The Pyramid," an online "webisodic" show profiled in Time and Newsweek. Most recently, I've completed "The Shroud," a science-adventure novel in the vein of Carl Sagan's "Contact."

I wouldn't recommend using Pages for creating an ebook. There are tools built into the newest version of Adobe InDesign that does a smoking job at creating ebooks. There are several flavors of epub currently. Depends on which device you are planning to use as to what tools will take you there. This is a moving target at present. Tablet devices will change the game again and we are starting to see rich media opportunities via html5.

What type of content are you planning to translate into your ebook?

Who is your audience?

Answering these questions first will help determine which epub option is right for you.

Try Cafepress.com for greeting cards and on demand printing of your images on any surface- we've been very happy with them. And with lulu.com for books.

Welcome!

Hey Steve, I'm Julie Diamond's friend Jody. We were playing on the computer last night - woohoo, big Saturday night - and saw you on Wired Sonoma so Julie sent that message. As for me, I'll write just about anything for which someone is willing to pay. Should I pass your regards onto Julie? Hi to your Julie from us! Stay dry, Jody
