Anea Kamahele commented on Anea Kamahele's blog post Rest For the Weary?
"Something struck me tonight along the topic of blurred lines as I made my way in the grass at Sebastiani for the Face2Face - Sonoma Valley. As I held my empty wine glass (i.e. nary a drop entered therein) and conversed with other folks there, I was…"

"I was born & raised in Sonoma and it is fascinating to watch the evolution of this small town. The acres of plums and apples and walnuts and pears that my mom would pick as a child over at the Armstrong orchard giving way to a town that is…"

Christine Mason McCaull commented on Anea Kamahele's blog post Rest For the Weary?
"That personal/business line is blurring more and more, especially as mobile devices enter the fray. The children take us to task for continual partial attention syndrome. The key seems to be to be fully present wherever you are, and then align the…"

Nostalgia Addendum

I read this yesterday over a morning java:The word "nostalgia" was invented on June 22, 1688 by Johannes Hofer, an Alsatian medical student, by combining the word νόστος, nostos ("return home") with the word ἄλγος, algos ("pain") in his medical thesis, Disertatio medica de nostalgia, to describe the sickness of Swiss soldiers kept away from their mountains. It shouldn't be surprising that a word we have calqued to "homesickness" should have originated from a place where one's home was so tightly…See More

An Analog Nostalgia

I recently celebrated one of those milestone birthdays, the ones about which we like to say "Such-and-such an age is the new such-and-such an age!" Phooey. All I can say is that I don't know how the old days used to be and I can only compare my own experience to, well, my own experience. My rotator cuff has been bugging me something crazy for weeks and my fingers are numb. My hair is shedding off my head like some sort of long-haired rabbit variety from which fuzzy sweaters are knit. I…See More

"I read about this Kogi Taco phenomenon late 2008 and was totally blown away by the concept. How Mark Manguera integrated a "drunken revelation" (i.e. a new & intriguing product) of Korean Tacos with tech-savvy promoters and a…"

Anea Kamahele commented on Chip Roberson's blog post Social Media Demographics – Oct 2009
"The info regarding social media use broken down into demographics by age surprised me. My assumption has been it's all about the Millenials. But my age group is smack-dab in the middle of the heaviest users. Veddy interesting."

About Me
I am a third generation State Farm agent whose family has created a tradition in insurance and financial services on Broadway in Sonoma since 1953. Our varied backgrounds have little in common: grandpa was a WWII vet, mom had a corporate job in the telephone company & I was a chef. But we all became State Farm agents because of a shared vision that became our mission: to create relationships within the community by providing excellent products from a company with high standards and strong financial standing. Grandpa has passed away but I carry on the tradition he began over 50 years ago by helping clients navigate their important life decisions and create a roadmap to financial security.

Rest For the Weary?

Posted on April 5, 2010 at 10:00pm 2 Comments

Tonight my first foray into a local social networking site. A little stymied. I sit here tapping on the keyboard then hitting delete. Should I have a purpose? If so, for whom? Me? I suppose for now that will do.

I've realized since becoming a business owner that the creativity I was accustomed to freely expressing has dried up into something less than a trickle. More like sludge. Or perhaps even the caked and cracking mud at the…
