Vineyards Growing Veggies

An extension of Urban Farming's (a 501(c) 3 organization based in Detroit with a mission to end hunger) "include food when planting and landscaping," the Vineyards Growing Veggies (VGV) pilot garden at Steinbeck Vineyards & Winery in Paso Robles was established in 2008 with the intent to help eliminate hunger in San Luis Obispo County. The first season 7000 pounds of fresh, local veggies were given to the SLO County Food Bank for those in need. The "seed" for the VGV project was planted out of a chance meeting between Urban Farming.org's founder, Taja Sevelle and Winery Music Awards founder/producer, Kathy Kelly at the final 2007 WMA competition in Paso Robles.
