Who are we?

Wired Sonoma is a social network designed to support, accelerate and promote the digital community in the Sonoma Valley.  We loosely define the digital community as:

• Tech Professionals -- software developers/engineers, hardware engineers, technology officers.
  
• Digital Artists -- web developers, graphic artists, etc.
• IT Professionals -- system operators, network administrators, etc.
• Tech Users -- people who depend on technology to support their business.

Why did we create this network?

We believe that Sonoma is a great community for professionals working in the digital domain.  However, this community is not well known or necessarily well connected.  We created this network with the following objectives:

• Connect professionals
  
• Share knowledge in the professional network
• Encourage more technology based businesses to start here,  and to move here
• Help entrepreneurs grow companies here
• Promote the awareness of Sonoma's tech talent in and outside the community
  
• Help Sonoma businesses find digital service providers locally
  
• Raise the tech capability of our non-tech businesses and non-profits.

Clarifying the purpose of this site

There has been some confusion about the purpose and use of this site so we have updated our Tagline to "Advancing the understanding and utilization of technology in Sonoma Valley"; and the Description is now "Networking site for Sonoma Valley businesses, entrepreneurs, tech experts and digital artists who work in or with digital technology". We're sorry if this causes anyone discomfort but it is important that the scope of this site stays focused on the purposes for which it was created. The site still welcomes Sonoma Valley businesses of all types but please limit your interaction here to issues relating to the use of digital technology. Thank you!

What?

Primarily, we host this social network so those working in/with the digital domain can connect to one another.

Secondly, we host get-togethers where members can meet one another and network.

Lastly, we offer seminars and mini-classes to help advance the state of the art of technology use in Sonoma. 

When?

Where?

Our community is defined by the Sonoma Valley which generally includes the City of Sonoma, the collection of communities commonly referred to as "The Springs", Glen Ellen and Kenwood.
